John, great summary....it makes clear how much further AMD has to go to gain more of the market.....66% Athlon vs 97% PIII.

Nice work! Looks like we still have ways to go but I like the penetration trends.

Summary of systems being sold in San Diego by small computer
stores which build their own computers. The following
summarizes the types of computer systems being advertised
in the weekly ComputorEdge flyer -- a free publication in
San Diego county.
Publication Date: 12/10/99 11/19/99 11/05/99 10/22/99
Number of storefronts: 34 32 34 32
Athlon systems: 68% 66% 62% 50%
Athlon 700 systems: 44% 44% 21% 0%
Athlon 750 systems: 3% 0% 0% 0%
PIII systems: 97% 97% 100% 100%
PIII Coppermine >600MHz: 15% 0% 0% 0%
PIII Coppermine 733MHz: 3% 0% 0% 0%
Celeron systems: 97% 84% 71% 91%
K6-2 systems: 71% 72% 82% 81%
K6-3 systems: 65% 53% 68% 62%

Note: totals are based on machine configurations actually
advertised in the ComputorEdge with a retail price.

Trends
------
Coppermine finally appeared at 3 dealers, one with 3
locations in San Diego county. Only *one* 733, the rest were 666's.

Athlon sales barely budged, and was not affected by arrival
of the CuMine. In San Diego, sales by these small dealers
far outsells the combined total from Fry's, Best Buy,
CompuUSA and other "biggies."
