I went over many of the inconsistencies you are referring to, ad nauseam, over on the ATHM board over a period of about three months during the spring and early summer, if you recall. Explaining why the political manifestations don't always make sense often requires looking very deeply into the new enabling characteristics of the emerging technologies, and how inherited rules simply don't apply any longer, if indeed they ever did to begin with. If you'd like, I could prepare a synopsis of the precepts which prompted my arguments during that episode, and then once again present the offsetting arguments. Better yet, you lead the way... pick your first favorite peeve, and we'll take it from there.
