Cheryl, I am not advocated to talk bad about Sun. I myself think SUNW is a great investment and I did invest some myself. Their product is great too for the price. I only tried to say that MSFT Windows OS is not overpriced nor did Solaris, I will defend SUNW just as much as MSFT if DOJ sues them for anti-trust in the UltraSparc station. My preference to NT servers does not have anything about SUNW performance but compatibility and ease of use. Yes, it is not as fast or stable as Sun Solaris but data is accessible to all people in a company and OK, "no one ever got fired by choosing Microsoft". What I do not like is all the companies pursued the DOJ to break-up Microsoft... Here is the problems: 1. Browser: Netscape v.s. Microsoft. Internet Explorer exist all the way back to Win3.1 and preload in the Win95 OSR2 (version 3.0). Netscape was a king then because it was better than IE. Netscape declined after MS released IE 4.0 that started to be equal or better than Netscape. 2. Java: Sun v.s. Microsoft If you think Microsoft is the only company that break the contract with Sun on Java. Please check with all other companies that develop Java. 3. Free software: MS kills competitors by give away softwares. - How many people paid to use Netscape, raise your hand?? - Intuit survives nicely even MS tried to give away MS Money that no one wanted. 4. Windows OS is NOT overprice. It is the cheapest OS bar Linux. 5. Microsoft is NOT a monopolist in the Intel x86 platform: - you can run Windows, PC-DOS, OS/2, Linux, Solaris, SCO-UNIX?? - You can only run MacOS and IBM-UNIX(don't remember name) on PowerPC - You can only run Solaris on UltraSparc 6. Ronald Reagan said "Government is not the solution, government is the problem" If you think goverment stop at break-up Microsoft then I do have a beautiful swammed land in Florida that I want to sell it to you at a good price:-) Mike
