I'm gonna be a fence rider and say an informed market is always right - in this case people are making decisions based on incomplete information, and those of us with a little bit more complete information can profit from that. We can also be altruistic and spread that information (and the wealth :) around...

If the market was always right, the prices wouldn't change except for material events.
The prices do change, and most of the time in the absence of material events.
Ergo, the market is most always wrong.

Corollary - there is a buck to be made in assessing just how wrong -g-
