Ericsson is hoping to boost phone sales by offering a free accessory such as an extra battery, hands-free accessory or leather pouch with the purchase of certain handset models. At the thousands of RadioShack stores across the country, consumers have been consistent in their preferences for handsets, says Rick Borinstein, senior vice president of merchandising. "Consumers care about size, such as the StarTAC and Nokia models, because they want to easily put the phones in a purse or pocket. The color thing is overblown.
