Mike, the IPO/savings rate ratio recently went to infinity for the first time ever as the savings rate turned negative...even before this remarkable leap it was well into record territory. it's a meaningful statistic inasmuch as it shows the propensity for taking on risk vs. exhibiting a slightly less carefree attitude with regards to the future. as the 70's have shown, this ratio oscillates between extremes. since it is at an impossible to surpass extreme right now, the next oscillation should go the other way...
