freeus, I have gotten into trouble in two ways: having insufficient conviction about good companies, and having too much conviction in bad companies. The problem for us as individual long-term investors is knowing when to stick with our conviction and when to bail, and the key is having accurate information. Any company can fall down for a number of reasons, whether it be their own execution or forces outside their control. But short of being an insider, which makes trading illegal, we are all making bets on our conclusions about the technology, the market, and the trend. Sometimes I wish I was a trader, but I lack either the time or the talent. I suppose if it were easy everyone would be rich :-)
