Lee--I think it was gas though not necessarily yours.
That is a wonderful theory, since the bulk of the money in the market is in mutual funds I wonder just how it works.
For example I don't know anyone who anticipated that novices were going to drive things like Amazon through the roof. I didn't see one person say "Get into Amazon, the novices in the market are going to jump it in six months. They will attract so much attention the funds will move in."
I do however know some shorts who thought Amazon was bound to go down as the novices driving it up would come to their senses. There is a scene in 'Deliverance' that kind of sums up their situation.
There is something to be said for playing the latest Golden Girl sector. This is done by say picking an internet dog, running over to Yahoo and using 50 or 60 of my 278 ID names and hyping that dog to the moon.
