Thanks for the speedy reply.

I like any announcement that indicates the divisions between flash and SDRAM applications are starting to fade, even if only to a minimal degree.

I know that the discussion we had didn't address the exact content of the Micron Technology post. At that time we were discussing handheld applications and, specifically, the vulnerability of additional software downloads/personal documents added to standard RAM memory (versus the typical impervious ROM module for the WinCE OS).

Of note, I read an article lately that Psion will offer its EPOC OS on a CompactFlash card (?write protected?) that will be downloaded to RAM as the device is turned on. In doing so future upgrades of the OS can be simply reloaded on the CF card rather than pulling out (and disposing of) an outdated ROM module. The corollary would be to back-up the onboard RAM automatically to a like sized flash card or embedded chip each time it is modified.
