Pirelli is probably a fire sale since Ascend was bought by LU. CIEN was teaming with CSCO on several deals especially IP over fiber using the CSCO gigarouter. CIEN clearly has the technical and installed market lead but there is probably a big spread in the asking price. Its a funny world though, look at all the money CSCO paid for Cerent. All right it was stock not money but CSCO stock is still pretty good currency. It would be shortsighted for CSCO to try to get by with a bargain when they know that time to market is everything and to pass up a leader indicates a failure to learn the lessons of recent history in this business.

Actually I don't believe either of those news items had much of an effect on today's price movement. Seemed like pure profit taking to me. The stock had has a 40% run up in about a month. The NAZ is up 20% in the last 17 sessions and people are locking in profits and waiting for a pull back. JMO.
Cheers
