Mannesmann CEO Doesn't Rule Out `Friendly' Vodafone Solution

Source: Bloomberg News
Dusseldorf, Nov. 24 (Bloomberg) -- Mannesmann AG's Chief Executive Klaus Esser said in an interview he doesn't rule out a ``friendly solution' between Germany's biggest mobile phone company and Vodafone AirTouch Plc if the U.K. company makes an offer that is ``acceptable' for Mannesmann's shareholders, the daily Rheinische Post reported. Vodafone would have to prove that a takeover would spur stronger value growth for Mannesmann than a continuation of the German company's telecommunications strategy, the report cited Esser as saying. Mannesmann combines traditional voice and mobile services while Vodafone, the world's largest provider of wireless phone services, focuses on wireless services.
