Proton, over the summer we found long plays. . .and stayed mostly cash. . .at one point, a basket of gold stocks made us about 30% return in a few weeks. Some short the QQQ. . .others hedge with a Prudent Bear Fund or similar. . . and still others go ahead and short individual issues. It really depends on your own situation and tolerance. . . for the most part I am on vacation through the summer. . . so I go mostly cash, with a small amount of hedging.

I do make short calls. . .with surprising success. . .though few listen. . . those that do have made money on the dark side. If we were ever to have a fundamental change in markets, I might do more short plays. . . but it is far less confusing playing individual issues long. . . .if you want to short. . .short S&P 500 futures or the QQQ or SPY or something like that. . .it is simpler and doesn't hurt any plays that the rest of us may be still in . . .

Thanks,
