I didn't interpret Bryden's remarks quite as negatively as you did concerning the deBakey device. Maybe I'll have to listen to that section again. I did note however, that they are finally having to acknowledge the existence of the deBakey device, whereas before it was not on their (publicly acknowledged) radar screen.

There's no question that there are two "camps" concerning LVADs - the ones that believe non-pulsatile can work and those that don't. My understanding is that the majority of doctors are in the "don't believe" category at this point, although there are obviously a few prominent surgeons who do believe in non-pulsatile. Reputations have been staked on this, and it is obviously a sensitive and contentious issue on both sides.

Only time will tell. I reiterate my belief (and the market estimates will confirm) that there is room for more than one player in this market.

Speaking of markets, I understand MicroMed may be preparing to make a public offering. Supposedly there is an analyst in Boston working on a report.
