Larry, If the FTC said that zinc isn't proven to have any effect on the common cold, I would agree that it would probably affect Gum Tech. However, reporters don't always report stories exactly the way they occurred and stories tend to get warped when they are passed from person to person. I read the press release concerning the FTC's ruling and it appears to me that they took issue with Quigley's claims on QVC for products that had not been proven through clinical tests. I don't see where the FTC took issue with Quigley's claim that Cold Eeze reduces the duration and severity of the common cold because this claim is substantiated with a clinical study. Here is a link to the press release: dailynews.yahoo.com Quoting from the press release:The settlement does not impact the company's primary claim that Cold-Eeze can reduce the severity and duration of cold symptoms in adults, FTC and company officials said. "For this investigation, what we focused on were the claims they were making that went far beyond any available science or claims that were directly contrary to the available evidence, for example the children claim," an FTC official said. I appreciate your comments, but I stand by my belief that Gum Tech should not be affected by the FTC's ruling. Gum Tech's first clinical study substantiates their current claims and an independent clinical test is nearing completion that would allow them to expand their claims (assuming that the results are favorable). The press release was on Reuters at 2:35 pm ET, so I would assume that it has already been discounted. If GUMM declines tomorrow, I think it will be a buying opportunity because there is no logical reason for the stock to decline based on the FTC's ruling. Those who keep a cool head can make money when the market makes irrational moves. I flipped GUMM for a profit the day that the AJIC article was withdrawn and I flipped it for a profit the day that the Quigley lawsuit was announced. IMO, GUMM will eventually trade higher based on bullish forward fundamentals, and the market inefficiencies caused by news events such as AJIC and the lawsuit create buying opportunities. Best regards, Dan
