UEComm Utilizes Cabletron SmartSwitch Routers In Three-City Metropolitan Area Network Cabletron Systems (NYSE: CS) today announced that UEComm, (formerly United Energy Telecommunications), Australia's leading bulk bandwidth Internet Service Provider, has selected a Cabletron Gigabit Ethernet switching solution to provide a high speed Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
UEComm has invested millions of dollars in building a state-of-the-art MAN that connects prime commercial buildings in each city. This new network enables business owners and tenants to purchase affordable, IP-based services to communicate at speeds of up to 1 Gigabit-per-second (Gbps). The network core is designed to ensure service reliability through fault tolerant network paths, Quality of Service guarantees, and an advanced Layer-4 switching architecture.
Based on Cabletron's Layer-3/4 SmartSwitch Router (SSR) technology, UEComm' is able to offer customers unique value-added services, including the ability to prioritize delivery of key business applications.
