I think you got it right. I think what the release was trying to say (albeit in a convoluted way) was that Checkfree is (wisely) not going to have any part in tracking, paying or handling customer service for any scanned bills.

Max/micny,

the roles can be stated more simply:

- there will be multiple presenters of electronic bills through the Intuit/AOL service
- each presenter will also (typically) handle payment for bills they present
- bills not presented (and payable) electronically may be paid via CF's 'Pay Anyone' service
