Lehman TLAB report this morning:
by: Flasheroo 11/24/1999 10:27 am EST
Msg: 10507 of 10507
Highlights:
* Faced with delays in bringing its network into the "new world," Sprint informed Tellabs just a few days ago that it was suspending its JCS 2000 program. Tellabs was one of the key suppliers for the JCS 2000, a precursor
for the ION network, with its AN2100 product.

* Although this news is slightly disappointing, its does not alter our
opinion that Tellabs is a strong company with a terrific product line and impressive product expansion plans. The flip side to this news is that it furthermore confirms that the "old world" SONET based architectures, which are Tellabs' mainstay, are not going away quickly and continue to grow in demand.

* Although it might be hard to see, the Sprint decision actually increases our confidence in fourth quarter and 2000 forecasts because the potential incremental demand for SONET digital cross connects is likely to easily make up for the loss of AN2100 sales.

* We are maintaining our 1 Buy rating and would strongly encourage investors to take advantage of any price weakness that might result from this news.
