niceguy767 - OTOT <Gotta like those Raptors and the way they have come out of the blocks this year...The final 15 seconds last night, though, which I did pick up, wasn't one of their "Sun"nier moments.

I'm just glad you all gave up Oregon's native son Stoudamire. He is working out quite nicely this year for the Blazers tag teaming with Anthony at point, although last night was not very Cavalier for the Blazers.

<No problem at all here with being cast in the American shadow. This shadow has an upside, which far outweighs any perceived negatives, inasmuch as many dangerous "elements" get deflected before they reach our "space". As a result our quality of life, is allowed to flourish, for the most part undisturbed, in its own unique manner...>

Glad "we" can be of service, knowing that somewhere, a greater good is being served :-). Actually, I like to represent myself as an Oregonian...

<You would have to admit we Canadians are somewhat unique, no...ehhh?>

Yeah, you all talk funny. I actually have had quite a bit of Northern Exposure, with one of my close relatives (US citizen) working and residing in the nether regions of British Columbia and The Yukon Territory for many years when I was a youngster. I actually have thoroughly enjoyed many trips to BC. Canadians, at least BC'ers, as a lot, are certainly a friendly sort, although I get the impression that some of them actually believe this political separation from the mother country is just a temporary thing...

Have a good day nice guy,

PB

Have you met Steve Porter yet? He brings a whole new meaning to the word, uniqueness, which Steve if you are reading this is also a good thing.

OT OT OT RE: "You would have to admit we Canadians are somewhat unique, no...ehhh?"

Hi NiceGuy,

I was once told (by a Canadian), how the name "Canada" came into being. Here's how the story goes (I'll make a couple of changes to the story):

Once upon a time, two gentlemen and a lady* were sitting at a table in a pub [not to be confused with American bars], and they decided it was time to give their fine country a wonderful name. "But what will we name him, eh?" [Original story said, "her"] One of the gentlemen said, "But I don't know, we've been thinking about this for quite some time now, eh?" Finally, the lady said, "I have an idea. Let's take all of the letters in the alphabet and put it into my hat. We'll each select a letter, eh?" The other gentleman said, "okay, now that's good thinking, eh?" So, one by one, they selected a letter. "I got a C, eh?" shouted the first gentlemen. "I got an N, eh?" shouted the second gentlemen. Finally the lady selected the last letter, "I got a D, eh! We're done!" and all three shouted in unison,"C-A-N-A-D-A."

And, so the story goes.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone !

Regards,
Amy J P.S. lady* [note: I've changed the story to include one "lady", but the actual story had "three gentlemen." This change was made to honor Canada (along with many other countries), for (unlike the US) having had at least one female Prime Minister (equivalent to US Presidency)
