CTR: Actually the shareholder will undoubtedly benefit from a break up but that is not the real crux of the matter. If you can't see the mischief at work here you suffer from the same myopia that Case,McNeally, and King Tutt do. This puts the government in charge of pricing and marketing style and strategies. I guess we will have to disband the INTC,SUNW,AOL,and even AAPL monopolies as well if JJ's findings of fact are precedent setting.

Regarding the tinkering with LINUX, such tinkering is only allowed up to the point of Mr. Torvald's approval and anything outside of his impramatur is strictly verboten. Of course this is not monopoly.

If LINUX, yet another version of Unix, is the threat to MSFT's dominance then their further dominance is assured.

Regarding MSFT's stifling of innovation and the economy I'll let the macro record speak for itself.
