On November 23 1999 an article was printed in National Post titled "Day traders don't deserve tax break" written by Arthur Drache,QC.The article quoted a liberal politician who feels short term traders do not deserve to claim their gains as capital gains.
I emailed Mr.Drache postings from this thread suggesting that Revenue Canada does not recognize short term trading as capital gains.
He replied that "I don't agree with you.. but then I only have 30 years of tax experience."
Perhaps short term traders should be aware of this discrepancy and not be so quick to report short term gains has income?
