OT To thread: as mentioned on Surfer's ol' thread, in our enjoyment of the bounty conferred on us as Q longs, we might do well to share a small fraction of our (unrealized) gains with those needy who are less fortunate than we in life on this planet.

Here, here! Thank you for the reminder.

In fact, this is good to remember throughout the year. I was driving back from the airport (SFO) after the Disruptive Innovation Conference in Vancouver two weeks ago. I was deep in the feeling of the afterglow of being in that environment - quality of thinking, successful people , etc. - when my route took me past a St. Vincent DePaul's men's shelter. It was about 4pm and the people needing a meal and bed for the night were lining up. One person's look - lost, alone, etc. - caught my eye and the juxtaposition of the "afterglow" and that person's look will be with me for a long time.

While I do lots of volunteering now (Big Brother, Hospice), I resolved to call them and see about serving dinner or otherwise helping out over the holidays.

I share this with all of you in the spirit of the holidays and our collective good fortune.
