ff,

Traditionally, people say that you should trade between 8:30 am and 11:00 am (EST) and between 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm (EST).

I'm starting to believe that the morning hours need to be changed. In the last few weeks it seems that the best time to trade is between 9:00 am (premarket) and 10:15 am. Between 10:15 am and 3:00 pm, the market seems to fade and everybody is very twitchy - one bad move in the price and all the traders panic. For active stocks, 1/4 to 1/2 point spreads seem to be common. Environment seems very bad.

This morning, I got up early and traded until about 10:15. I did much better than the last few days.

Regards,

Dan.
