His arguments make wonderful sense in the traditional worldview and ... I dunno ... may play out that way within the parts of the world that don't shift much.

There's another factor at play in wireless ... one which I am excruciatingly aware of as it is the business of my "day job" ... namely ... easy connections.

Nick has apparently not spent his life diddling tangles of wires connecting dozens of assorted devices ... plugging ... unplugging ... installing ... tearing hair.

Local area, or personal area wireless, will be a major revolution ... and will affect wide area wireless in fulfillment of the seamlessness imperative ... an imperative we do not recognize yet ... but which will shape the future with overriding force.

I would modify the "Negropotheses" as follows:

Bits will travel wirelessly in proportion to the degree to which they're public and in proportion to the degree in which they originate or terminate at physically autonomous appliances.

Nick's hypothesis is based on push thinking. I believe local wireless, as it revolutionizes the desktop and hand-held appliance world, will PULL information into the wireless arena ... to fulfill seamlessness.
