My neighbour has a very odd looking cat... sort of chocolate brown with little squiggly gold lines all through its fur... what you'd call "brindle" markings. It has very weird eyes... golden... remind me of some kind of chunks of amber or topaz. This cat has a strange face... its eyes always look kind of "surprised" and it has a fine little muzzle and nose that are barely visible. It's the kind of cat that will give you a terrific shock if you happen to walk into the studio and surprise it while it's crouched somewhere waiting to catch a red squirrel. I leave one of the studio windows open from spring through to fall so that the cat can come and go and keep the %$@#&%@$ red squirrels out of there. It's very nervous and will bolt past you if it feels like it's cornered. Once in awhile, I'll walk into the studio and it will be crouched in the shadows between a couple of the rafters... I'll get that eerie feeling of being watched...and then I'll look around and there will be this sort of "dark shadow" somewhere in the room...and then these bizarre golden eyes will be turned on me all of a sudden... It can be almost heart-stopping... Then the cat will spring ot of its hiding place and bolt through the open window....

For awhile, it started coming to the big sliding glass door beside my desk when I was working on something in the middle of the night. It would always do the same thing... just crouch outside the door with "just" its head visible in the very corner of this big expanse of glass. I'd be working away and suddenly get the old "being watched" feeling and I'd turn around and find this "disembodied cat head" down at toe level about 2 feet from my foot... staring at me through the glass with those soulless eyes... I suspect it might be a Spirit Cat... hmmmmmm....
