This makes me believe that Nokia must be highly motivated to buy QCOM's handset division. Can they get over their egos?

I have a question for the thread. Does Nokia design it's own GSM asics?

Well that's the big question....I think that Nokia could fall out of the top spot in US sales during either the third or fourth quarter of this year. Hopefully that will wake them up. I was just at a PCS store and they told me that they were out of the Samsung 3500 and didnt expect any until January. I really hope that this isnt the case everywhere but it does indicate where the demand is....

I dont think that GSM uses ASIC's....rather they use DSP's supplied by TXN. The DSP's are then programmed by Nokia. DSP's dont have enough horsepower to handle CDMA yet....
