Larry, way to go, well said:

So I have to admit I am feeling really ticked about these frivolous lawsuits. These people got a product
that took billions of dollars to develop at a pittance. $89 retail plus all the rebates offered etc...These
people that feel overcharged are the same bunch who sit on their couch munching pork rinds and buying
shlock from QVC. These people probably bought their cheese whiz Elvis print for $250 - or they are of
the scumbag attorney type.

The US should modify its laws to not allow these types of lawsuits to be taken on contingency and to
immediately require payment of the defendants attorney's fees on a loss buy the plaintiff.

THE MORE LAWSUITS REGISTERED; THE FASTER MSFT SETTLES

The fact that Microsoft is getting sued by many states and consumers in class action suits is very good news. It will force Microsoft to settle this very disruptive court case that has hindered it's stock price performance.

The risks are clear for Microsoft, if they don't settle then, the judge rules them a monopoly that broke the law. Then all those class action suits in the billions of dollars will go to court. If Microsoft loses in appeals then, Gates has just pissed his fortune away.

For this reason, I strongly believe that Microsoft will settle with the DOJ very soon. The fact that the judge appointed a very promoter of free entreprise to mediate means that the judge does not want to issue a ruling of monopoly in this case and wants a settlement.

The DOJ will want to settle also because if Bush is elected he will ask DOJ to drop the case.

Settlement will look something like this:

Msft is free to innovate it's products but, PC makers once are also allowed to innovate the products they sell which means modifiying Windows software. There is a condition that the first screen opened must contain all features included by Microsoft but, that manufacturers can add new features that make their Windows unique.

Consumers can then choose on their own which features they wish to work with and which they will delete.

Simple enough. Stock to $ 130 by January 15, 2000.

All class action suits dismissed.
