Sprint PCS is several years away from turning a profit, so they set it for many of the same reasons T wants to.

I don't think PCS made money either. The problem is similar: both T and FON have long-distance voice cash cows, and they both have cap-ex-intensive and moneylosing wireless ops. Similar incentives for separating them. What I wonder is, of the 100BB Bernie E. is shelling out for Sprint, how much is really for PCS? (Considering that the FCC is going to force WCOM to dispose of some of Sprint's assets, the answer could be "most of it")
