I've always appreciated the reliability of the 810 platform. For example, I can trust that software drivers and support will be very reliable coming from Intel, compared to drivers coming from some smaller company.

That's why I chose the 810 platform when I built a sub-$700 PC (including 17" monitor) for my roommate. Unfortunately, there are still two things I'm concerned about when it comes the reliability on that PC:

- The modem. It's one of those no-name brand Winmodems bought for real cheap at Fry's.

- Windows 98. 'Nuff said.

The probable reliability of Timna-based PCs will be very attractive for OEMs. They won't have to spend as much on servicing customer problems. And that leads to higher profit margins and/or lower prices.
