Leaf: JV. That business works entirely joint venture, formal or otherwise. Could be anyone. Could be any nationality. It's irrelevant. Gears should carry a World passport.

Maple Leaf; Several weeks ago there was a rumour going around that Bombardier was talking to Siemens about a joint venture which would involve both companies putting their European assets into new company. Siemens has be trying to remake itself into a high-tech telecommunications company yet they have this large transportation business that makes trainsets.

Other big players could be Alstom and ABB. Alstom is a joint venture between GEC of the UK and Alcatel of France that went public last year. GEC and Alcatel still own 25% each of the new company. One of their products is the TGV, the high speed train in France.

ABB is another interesting company. They are a huge Swedish/Swiss engineering company that's also in the trainset business.

Cheers, Mike
