Between now and friday morning rational observers will have a chance to weigh in on ADSP. Alot of the ambiguity about ADSP will be resolved by then. Briefing.com pretty much did the company in with its release this evening. This product has lots of technical limitations, those will be made apparent in a day or two. I suspect that CNBC will want to clarify their statements. The WSJ will probably comment also. There will be ample technical and financial people with credentials indicating their thoughts. Any rational person knows that ADSP can't undercut Cisco and Lucent for example.
Cisco and Lucent have tremendous capital, service capacity, and broad product lines. Assuming for a moment that ADSP undercut Cisco, Cisco could sell a better product at a lower cost in a heartbeat. Another aspect of selling is channel of distribution, existing clients, client relationships, and reputation, ADSP has none. Cisco or Lucent could ramp up in a heartbeat, ADSP does not have a patent or unique license. Profitable companies with broad product lines cut costs to beat the competition and sell at a loss if they choose to to keep market share and maintain good customer relationships.
