JohnQ (OT - Global Warming) - CO2 is a trace element in our atmosphere and we are adding it in massive quantities. Want to see what could ultimately happen? Look to Venus. We are performing a giant experiment that we will be very hard pressed to control if it goes awry.

As for whether or not it's happening did you ever hear of La Nina and El Nino just ten years ago? Not much if at all. Computers and better data gathering have transformed weather prediction into a hard core science from an art. I tend to believe the scientist on this one.

Sadly, I think things will have to get far worse for decades before any real work is done to solve this problem.

The USA is a major loser in global warming scenarios. Much of our prized farm land goes to pot. Russia is considered to be a major beneficiary.

I don't think it'll become a major problem for at least 30-50 years, but from what I know about people and politics I'm not too hopeful.

This is a really complex subject to say the least.

None of this knowledge causes me any indecision in the least about investing in this sector though...

As they say in South Park, Global Warming sucks ass.
