True Dog: Several point to make here.

I have read the bible for many years and I do understand it thank you. I refer you to my post on right and wrong. You fail to see that it is YOUR assumption that the bible is the word of god. You act based on that assumption which is your right. But it is not your right to deny others their rights nor their respect.

As for equal rights. No, homosexuals DO NOT have equal rights as you and I do. Please do not confuse the few that parade up and down the street in foolish costumes as representing the entire class of people. What rights do homosexuals have when they want to marry? None. What rights do they have in equal medical benifits for partners? None. The list goes on and includes much of what YOU take for granted. It all goes back to YOUR assumption that they are cursed by god and therefore are not eligible for those rights.

As to hate crimes. You miss the point of the hate crime laws. I speak as a former federal agent mind you. Hate crime laws were enacted because of vast racial prejudices that prevented the equal application of the laws. Example. A murder of a black man in a rural town might not (or was never) prosecuted in the same manner the murder of a white man. Why? Large scale discrimination and hatred. The hate crime laws were enacted to prevent that tyype of discrimination. While I grant you that this type of thing is not as prevalent as in the past, it still exists and even more so in regard to classes of people still looked at as cursed by god....

As for leaving you alone. I do not persecute you nor deny you your rights. I post here to discuss this particular religous topic and to get people like you to think. That is my right in an open forum. You are allowed the right to disagree. It is a violation of human decency to take the rights of others away from them. Disagree if you like. Dislike them if you wish. But you cannot take away their right to live free and to choose for themselves. Seems to me that is the very basis of the American way of life?
