hi gott,

i simply can't believe the price i'm paying for goods on buy.com.

i found cnet fast ethernet pci 10/100 adapters for $10.95 each. (mfg part #pro120) locally, they want $39.95 each. i ordered three to network two pc's (cable modem requires two nic's in one machine). the 10ft rj45m crossover cable was $1.95. the local guy wants $12.95 to "make one for you". shipping is a tad higher than the rock bottom cheapest i've found (the customer service rep said there's a $4.95 handling fee). reason i call is to hear about availability. when the website says, "usually ships in 24-48 hours", i need to know more detail. buy.com is able to confirm if the item is in stock and if it'll go out that day. their online tracking is fantastic.

in the last month i have done an awful lot of shopping and ordering online. i still avail myself of the contact with a human to confirm certain things. but the prices and service and selection are truly phenomenal.

:)

mark
