Yes, for every seller , there is always a buyer , or for every buyer , there is always a buyer after the trade is done , that is the way the market is built.
Before the trade is done, you can also say whenever there is a seller want to sell, there is always a buyer who wants to buy at a certain price, or whenever there is a buyer , there is always a seller who wants to sell at a certain price. If there are more sellers who want to sell and less buyers who want to buy, then the price will go down till it hit a certain level which will trigger the buying activities. Whenever there are more buyers want to buy, the price will go up to a certain level which will trigger the selling activities. So, no stock will go up / down in a vertical line.

The big institution always buy low and sell high , that is the way profit is made. But when you buy low , you do not like to trigger a wave of buying activities which will hike the price and reduce your chance of buying low, that is why the period of accumulation is always long, and once the base is built , the price will go up big time . Just look at what happened to CSCO recently, it has been up and down between $60 to $70 for a long time , and once the base is built , the institution accumulated enough shares between $60 to $70, the stock shooted up for more than $30 in no time. Just look at what will happen to LU in the next one to two weeks.

For Microsoft, just look at the past 5 day's daily chart, the volume shoot up , and the price went up slowly, there is some up pressure, and it is in a accumulation mode. At this stage, thinking about the fact that a settlement can be announced anytime in the morning when you wake up, fewer and fewer people will like to sell this stock; once the settlement is announced, and followed with the WIN2k, and many new business will come to the surface, the only direction for Microsoft is up and up. You bet what is the sleeve of Microsoft, They are buying up Cable and communication business around the world, well you guess what they are up to .
