Tokyo--Dec 14--Spot palladium extended overnight gains on short-covering in
Asia Tuesday, while panic buying was not seen above the historical high of US
$420 per ounce, dealers said. Platinum was supported by steady palladium and an
unclear political situation in Russia, while gold hovered above $280 during Asia
