Goutama,

<Electronic News take on AMD's K7-750 relase:

AMD to retake speed crown on Monday>

<Persistent rumors have further said that AMD will also announce a major design win with Gateway Inc., but a Gateway spokesman denied that any such announcement was scheduled for Monday.:o( >

No biggie. I have very little doubt about Gateway being in Athlon camp. Intel has given it enough reasons to make that choice. I think it is a question of dates now. Tomorrow is the most rumored date. If it happens it is great otherwise we will wait a little longer. As far as AMD is concerned the timing of the event has little material impact in the sense that this is a sold out quarter. We are just talking about impact on trading. Speaking for myself, the only impact I see is on my trading position would be the amount of scalping (a little or lot - I don't lose money unless I sell under 26 or so).

<People familiar with the matter say AMD had planned to announce the new part on Dec. 13, but moved that date up, partially in order to take advantage of shortages of the Intel part. >

The 13th date was clearly rumored but I have a problem buying this explanation. 750s were being shipped for well over a month now.

<See Arik Hesseldahl's full report on Monday>

Looking forward to what this guys has to say...
