Captain,
I looked at VSIO. Nice company. Good products. No debt. Makes money. Good growth. Price reflects MSFT proposal to buy them, but it is not trading on a direct relationship to MSFT's current price. That reflects the time value and risk factor for the proposed transaction. It might also be a slight vote that the MSFT price might be less at transaction time. I would be more comfortable buying VSIO close to it's value in mid September. That way the loss should the transaction go south would be less, and the stock more able to recover in several months.

I didn't really dig around that much. Just enough to form my amateur opinion. Depending on circumstances, I might be a buyer in the 32 to 34 range. It still has risk at that point but not as high. It will take a MSFT dip to reach that price range.

Compaq is doing about the same thing it always does on a Holiday shortened Friday. It just can't develop any volume on days like this. It will recover next week.
