Scott, You bring up very good points that I was asking as soon as I heard that Adams was moved out of his primary role as the leader of this new "In-the-net" (thought it was "On-the-net" but no mater). The man just got the frikkin job for this team and was given almost ZERO time to make something happen with this group. I feel sorry for this poor team! I held out so much hope for this team (in fact I would like to say that this board figured out the concept of the "In-the-Net" team for Novell - hehehe). It would have had independence to act like a SERVICES unit and not like a PRODUCTS unit. Novell has near zero experience in the services side of the industry. This unit could have built up strength in this skill-set. I will have to do more investigating on how this new team reports up, but if it takes ultimate direction from Stewart Nelson, then I don't give much hope for this team since Stewart is a PRODUCT man and thinks in terms of PRODUCT life-cycles. Services have SLAs that are critical to understand and control, they don't ship in red-boxes that you can forget about once its in the customer's hands, they require constant vendor-customer interface, and so much more. I could be wrong since I dont know all the details but it sure looks like the team has fallen victim to internal politics. I really wish Eric would make much more commitment to this team. Make them a separate Business Unit with a head that would report directly to Eric. Put a person with a strong "Service Portal" strength in charge. Let this team truly work independent from Novell's other units. From stuff I have heard from you and many others in and outside of Novell, I am amazed how powerful the middle/senior management actually is in Novell. I cant believe that Eric doesnt know whats going on, but I would love to know what/who is influencing him. On another point you brought up regarding Novell's "10 ZEN" commitments and their ability to delivery on their promise. In January at the Global Partners Forum it was made ABSOLUTELY CLEAR by Eric (and Stewart agreed) that Stewart Nelson was responsible (and even with consequences) for delivering 10 ZENs by end of year. Well he and his team dont look like they will meet that goal (4 weeks left) unless they surprise us. So what seems to have happened, they promote Stewart to take on more responsibilities (Product and Marketing). Hello?? Is something wrong with that picture??? Am I the only one that sees something wrong with this? Anyway, I am getting off my soapbox (for now). You people down there continue to have a great extended Thanksgiving. Cheers All!! Toy
