RE <<<You seemed rather steamed when I made that "AMD fanatic" comment, even though my message was to PB (and indirectly to DARBES), not to you. It's as if you took that comment rather personally. Is there any reason why?>>>

Ten, I wasn't p*ssed at all; in fact I was surprised at your reaction. You have been on this thread long enough to know the general reaction to the Register on this thread; its stories have maybe a grain or two of truth cloaked in sensationalistic hyperbole. Its read to get that grain or two and for its entertainment value.

RE "<My point was that most if not all posters here are well aware of intc's size and ability, and take in the Register's flaming of intc with some healthy skepticism.>

Really? I guess the guy who posts all those anti-Intel headlines from The Register, then tells people to have a Happy Thanksgiving, must be part of the minority then. I sure didn't see any "healthy skepticism" in his tone."

What I got out of what DRBES was doing was to highlight some extreme commentary on AMD; namely the Register while flaming any intc long who might be reading. And you and PB fell for the bait.

What's so stupid about this is that AMD didn't sell more pc's because you and PB fell for the bait. In other words a blow was not struck in the competitive war between the two companies but rather it all became very personal and emotional.

I think this thread should be used as a source of investment and for someone like me, technical info. That's apparently the conclusion of C. Gault and I think he's smart. To use it as a place to vent is, as Charles would put it, a waste of bandwidth.

That's the only point I was trying to make.
