MrGreenJeans re

<<< Unfortunately, the only extensive farming experience I have is harvesting the tomatoes in my backyard each fall

I must have had a slow brain day a while back and took some comment about bringing in the harvest or something serious.
More things like that and I'll have to be exiled to a less sophisticated board<g>

<<<Any thoughts on a 1976 repeat of the topping process towards the end of this year? All the indexes are close to or at all time highs and the coincidence is interesting.

Yes, it's quite interesting that Bob brought up this 1976 lengthy topping process a long time ago and bullish sentiment became very muted for a long time suggesting such a scenario was unlikely. Now as we head into December bullish sentiment is exploding upward. I guess one thing arguing against the scenario would be the cyclicals became yesterday's brief story and high tech is showing sustained leadership with further movement into the areas that seem to really deserve it, e.g. bandwidth, wireless and B2B come to mind. I have taken Bob's comments about getting particularly concerned if the current Nasdaq outperformance starts to detereorate as a particular potential danger. If we are seeing an early millenium meltup where sidelines money is pouring back in in a panicky realization that y2k was overhyped then we might also have an early pooping out of this early panic buying. That would put us perhaps right at the end of the year when the Nasdaq could lose its outperformonce and if bullish sentiment continues to increase through December it might require some consideration even if we're in a favorable seasonal time and entering an election year
