Indian buildout continuing....for the life of me I am having trouble determining if it is WLL or mobile. I have seen references to both. For those interested this company will have an GDR on the NYSE sometime next year.... MTNL mobile service to cover Delhi by January (23/11/1999-BS) . . Our Infrastructure Bureau NEW DELHI Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd is set to expand its mobile service based on code division multiple access, with coverage area to be expanded to cover the whole of Delhi by January 2000, the company's chairman and managing director, S Rajagopalan said yesterday . He was addressing the media on the sidelines of the India International Trade Fair currently underway here. At present, the service is available only in select pockets and the company is now planning to increase the number of base stations to improve the reach of the service. "It will be a comprehensive service shortly," officials said. Mahanagar Telephone Nigam will also expand the capacity of the system from 10,000 to 50,000 by March 2000.
