I have scaled the total Nasdaq short interest by the average daily volume for the month the short interest is reported. It gives a different perspective than unscaled short interest. "days to cover" for the past year have actually been below historical levels.

"days to cover" seems to relate inversely to Nasdaq price -- Nasdaq rises when days to cover falls etc.
