Jean,
Well, now I am asked to explain why I don't fear Linux. I am no expert on the subject, but I am certainly putting my money (and borrowed money too) on Microsoft.

The leader of Linux is of course Linus Torvalds, and although he was very relaxed in front of thousands of people at COMDEX, I also thought that he was too disorganized. During the entire evening session that may have lasted for about one hour, before taking questions from the audience, I never heard anything of technical value. It also looks like he has come around to wanting to make money. I guess everybody wants to eat, and he proudly displayed a credit card with penguins, and the following day he had two of those "birds" skydive into Comdex! He is clearly aware that credit card issuers make several percentage points on all purchases.

It takes a big organization to compete with Microsoft. Their Windows program contains large volumes of drivers that save customers a lot of money by not having to go looking for them. If you decide to use Linux, I believe that a customer will also have to hire more help than would be the case with windows. Wages can cost a bundle in no time.

Windows is cheap in comparison to Linux. Just my humble opinion.... humble carl
