Anonymous,

I think it depends upon the individual. Personally, any time I own 1000 shares or more of one stock I feel that I have a medium-sized position. Anything over 5000 shares, I consider, a large position for me.

I know a few people who think that you don't own much of a position at all unless you have 10,000 shares or more.

I guess it depends how deep your pockets are.

Cheers,

Steve

Anonymous,
I have reduced my "large" holding down to a modest one as of Wednesday. Should have waited until today and I'd have picked up a few bills.

I have almost sold LU several times since my original purchase. However, my 4000 shrs. are as of today a 10 bagger. There is something to be said for buy and hold when it comes to a quality holding. The other thing I have noticed particularly about LU is just when you are ready to throw in the towel it jumps. Tax consequences have also prevented me from lightening up. This one is a keeper so I really don't see any value in trading this stock until the world no longer needs and buys their products.

Ted

Anonymous,

I think you have to look at holdings by percent of your equities total value in any one stock. As of 3:50(bought a lot at 75) last Wednesday I had 70% of my total value in LU, dumb, really dumb. I was delighted to see it open at 77 and in fact sold a bit early, got out at 76.5, almost the low trade of the day but I had a nervous turkey day with that much in one stock.

Anyway, I think 10% is about all anyone should have in any one stock. To me, >25% large, 15 - 20% medium, <5% small.

6 figures sounds big to me but it's all relative.
