Hear! Hear! Barbara. Or is it Here! Here!
Never have found out which is correct.
Anyway, your post got it exactly right from where I sit. Thanks

I hope everyone is fortunate and that we all make money. No one wants to be last in and last out, but it has happened to all of us. I certainly am no stranger to that event.

Have you noticed that it's WAY more fun when your friends make money with you and you are not sitting there "by yourself"? At least that is the way it is for me.

Autumn:

I, personally, don't think anyone in this thread "moves" a stock as much as they think. There are litterally billions of dollars involved - funds, brokers, etc. I think we just try and recognize patterns and follow those that actually do move the markets, i.e., don't fight the trend that already exists.

As far as the "giddiness", well, I think the short sellers (a lot of them anyway) bring that on themselves. I know this may not make it right, but I've seen short sellers spew lies and spread inuendo after they short a stock to try and scare the small investor into selling and driving the price down so they can cover and make money. Some of them make so much money doing this, they can afford to hire people to go to the message boards and try and scare off the buyers.

People that try and make a living by staying mostly short must be pessimists by heart? I find it extremely hard to short a stock because, deep down, I always want to believe that a stock / company is going to survive and do well. Most of these companies have employees who support families with their jobs.

This can be a very ugly business. There is MUCHO $$$ involved and that can make for very shady dealings.

IMO, of course.
