Perhaps the majority might put "protestant" or "catholic" on their dog tags, but that a christian does not make. And so what? The comment was regarding christian tollerance and I think history has taught us that the christian religion is very intollerant. So your comments about other places in the world and christian persecution is a bit misplaced or I missed your point?

Regarding the holy wars. The crusades were all about "retaking the holy city" and not about christians attempting to live peacably in another land. The 300 years war was about protestants killing catholics over dogma. The Inqusition was about catholics killing protestant upstarts. Shall I go on?

Certainly christians have been persecuted in far away lands, as has anyone who attempts to live in a land with an over zealous religous population. But the times I have mentions in recent posts have only been about christian aggresion and expansion. Which brings up good ole Pat Robertson and the christian coalition - todays army of god.
