Pele-Phone Due to Launch Cellular Internet Provider in 2000
By Eliav Alalof

Next year Pele-Phone intends to launch a cellular Internet provider, "Globes" has learned. This service will enable Pele-Phone subscribers to obtain a diverse range of cellular Internet applications. The service will operate at a rate of 64 Kbps, more than 6 times the bandwidth currently available in cellular communications, which stands at 9.6 Kbps.

Yesterday Pele-Phone published its financial results, showing an extraordinary loss of $27 million in the third quarter. The company announced in the past that in 1999 it would present poor financial results. This was due to its focusing on increasing its market share, at the expense of short-term profitability.
