I don't see how your answer accommodates a smaller number of shares per trade. Lower prices from splits should increase the average trade size, no?

I do agree the splits accommodate smaller investors.

PS the split adjusted price of MSFT looks like it tripled from the 1997 highs, so I think I'm missing your point.
