Kodak Canada Selects BCE Emergis for E-commerce Solution
On-line Storefronts for Kodak Canada's Dealer Network
MONTREAL--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 2, 1999--BCE Emergis and Kodak Canada Inc. today announced the launch of Kodak Product Showcase, an electronic-commerce solution that allows Kodak Canada dealers to market and sell products to their customers through their own e-commerce-enabled Web sites. After a six-month trial with eight different dealers in a half-dozen provinces, Kodak Canada expects to roll out the application to hundreds of its authorized dealers and resellers across Canada.

Under the terms of the agreement with Kodak Canada, BCE Emergis provides and hosts the on-line catalogue and credit-card applications, while ensuring the security and integrity of all electronic transactions between the parties. BCE Emergis also provides round-the-clock support to Kodak Canada and its dealers, who are responsible for maintaining and updating their individual online catalogues.

''By outsourcing this new e-commerce application to BCE Emergis, we were able to go from concept and design to implementation in just 12 weeks,'' said Norm Naumoff, President of Kodak Canada. ''In the rollout phase, we expect to have each new dealer's online storefront up and running in less than two weeks. Now that's working in Internet time! - something we can accomplish only by partnering with an industry leader like BCE Emergis. This new project is a natural extension of our close relationship with the BCE family of companies, which together bring a great deal of value in helping us better serve our customers online.''

''We are very pleased to be working on this showcase solution with Kodak Canada,'' said Christian Trudeau, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, BCE Emergis. ''Our network-centric model lets us provide this kind of user-friendly, affordable solution in record time, a real boon in our fast-paced highly competitive marketplace. Kodak Canada understands that the best way to stay ahead is to concentrate on its expertise, the science of imaging, and to offload the expensive e-commerce infrastructure and applications to us.''

In keeping with Kodak Canada's goal to incorporate its dealer network into its e-commerce strategy, hyperlinks on both Kodak Canada's and Eastman Kodak's Web sites send Canadian customers directly to the Product Showcase, where they can view a range of popular Kodak products. With a single click of the mouse, they are transported into the individual virtual storefronts of participating Kodak dealers. Alternatively, customers can go directly to their local dealer's online store, bypassing the corporate sites entirely. Either way, customers can consult an ever-expanding catalogue of products and place their order by fax, phone or on-line using the system's secure credit card engine.

Kodak Canada Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Eastman Kodak Company of Rochester, NY. It is the only major Canadian manufacturer of photographic products and is Eastman Kodak's world manufacturing center for several product lines. From the world's most complete line-up of digital cameras to the most sophisticated business imaging solutions, Kodak is at the forefront of the latest imaging advances.
