I remember AMD shutting down for 2 weeks last year and wondering why. Then with the CXT core. late mask "design" problem I could understand why. Bins were lousy...
This time it's different. Where have we heard that? <G>

If Fab 25 IS open during those two weeks it will produce AT LEAST 10% more processors than it it wasn't open. And it will give the .18 process a chance to further ramp up compared to if it was closed. Let's see, that could be at least 8000 more wafers.

It will be more than 10% (for next quarter) since it takes a lot longer to bring the tools up to speed once they are idled. Sometimes, there is no choice but to shut down to bring in new tools. The worse case is when the plant has to power down, even for a short period of time. This will mess up the lens and vacuum systems.
